Canon History: Weasel at Comic Vine || Marvel Database

AU History: His history doesn't deviate too far from canon. He had a pretty normal childhood, growing up the scrawny, brainy, geeky kid that didn't fit in much, unless you counted fitting in lockers. He got bullied and straight As pretty much right up until one crazy night, half way through college, when Wade Wilson showed up and took him on a wild drinking binge. Normally, this sort of thing wouldn't amount to much, since drinking is a typical part of college, but then, it could be said that Wade has the ability to destroy everything he touches, including lives. If pressed, Jack wouldn't exactly say what happened that night, or even if it was just one night, but he could certainly tell you how it ended.

It ended with him half-way across the country in Chicago, living in one of Wade's places with a crotchety old blind woman named Al, and it wasn't exactly for free. Or of his own volition, but he didn't really have much choice at the time, since he was broke, estranged from his family, and had no other connections. It wasn't so bad; Wade Wilson wasn't around all that much, and all he really wanted from Jack was for him to act as sort of a caretaker for when he was away, and as an information broker, using his knowledge of technology and computers to look up anything Wade needed. Sometimes, it was just silly little things Wade was too lazy to look up himself. Sometimes, it was things he'd really rather not think about, but that was sort of the principal he applied to Wade in general. He did not ask what Wade did for a living, how he got his money, where he went when he left Jack and Al alone, or anything of that nature. In part, it was because he didn't want to know, but mostly, it was because living with Wade was like living with an abusive boyfriend.

You see, Wade Wilson was a very fickle, temperamental, and careless, individual, and even worse, he was charming. Jack and Al were more or less kept as pets to Wade's mindset, and they had a very limited amount of freedom. They couldn't leave without permission, and if they did anything Wade didn't like, he punished them. Something he was perfectly flippant about one day might set him off the next. Then he'd feel guilty about it later, and be very sweet and earnest in his apologies. He even brought peace offerings! Expensive, shiny peace offerings, more often than not, and he had the sort of eager puppy personality that made it hard to stay mad at him.

Regardless, Jack wanted out, and thankfully, he was free to do whatever he wanted in the confines of cyberspace. He set up an online bank account and worked as a freelance web designer, which was how he found the North Feldman Academy. Or rather, how it found him. He was hired to create and maintain the school's website for a sizable chunk of money - more than enough to get set up someplace else on his own. Sadly, that was the easy part. The real challenge lay in escaping Wade's clutches. For a year, he sat on his haunches, saving his money and trying to figure out how to broach the topic with the mercurial man. It turned out to be easier than he thought.

After a year of observing his meticulous maintenance of the website, the headmaster of North Feldman asked Jack to join the then newly formed IT department of the school and teach Web Design. Jack would have turned him down, not actually wanting to teach, but Wade found the letter first, and he was nothing but enthusiastic about it. Jack was all but shoved out the door with his things, Wade's only two demands being that they keep in touch, and that he get a copy of the apartment key - just in case. Afraid that, after living with Wade for almost three years, he'd never have the chance to leave again, he took it and ran with it.

That was ten years ago. Since then, he's gotten comfortable with teaching and his position within the school. Wade still pops in and out of his life, calling him up for information or just showing up to impose upon Jack because he's bored, lonely, or needs a place to 'lie low.'

Personality:
When you think of sterotypical nerds, you generally picture a scrawny white male with oversized glasses and a plethora of social anxieties that keep them confined to their rooms/mom's basement. Jack easily falls into this category of society, although he's graduated from his parent's place to an apartment of his own. Something he's glad for, if only because it means he can fill it with Sci-Fi memorabilia and computer parts without getting hassled. It would almost look like a mad scientist's lair, if it wasn't for the dirty laundry, and empty pizza and take-out boxes scattered everywhere. He is a single male, after all, personal cleanliness isn't high on his list of priorities. He'd clean if someone was coming over, but hardly anyone ever does, and those that do, he doesn't need to impress.

He's pretty okay with his apparent loneliness, however. He's separated the world in three kinds of people - those too stupid to bother with, those out of his league, and people like him - with the first two over-lapping more often than not. It makes him a bit bitter, but in a quiet, grumbly, resigned sort of way, and he doesn't bother to try and improve things. He prefers the realms of the familiar, and the path of least resistance, and he tends to be a pushover and doormat because of it.

Although that's not to say that he's completely without a spine, because that's not true. When angry, he will raise his voice and say exactly on his mind, but such instances are rare and few between. He'll also stand up for what really matters, but the definition of what matters changes a lot depending on the circumstances. Furthermore, exactly how he takes a stand varies greatly as well. Preferring to avoid pain and conflict, he's more likely to take an underhanded approach when facing an opponent stronger than himself. Sometimes, that means blackmail. Sometimes, it means employing a bigger bully that the original to protect him. And sometimes, it means putting together plans and contraptions mad scientist levels of complexity into motion while he sits in his room, rubbing his hands together and cackling with spitefilled glee. He's not just good with computers, after all; he'd been on his way to becoming an engineer when Wade Wilson whisked him away.

His feelings for Wade aren't ones that are exactly easy to explain, although he is a key figure in Jack's life. He definitely considers him a friend, but he's very conscious of just how bad of a friend he is. Still, he treats Jack fairly well at least half of the time, and though he can be condescending, it's usually meant in the realm of good-natured ribbing. It's better than he gets from most others, and he latches onto the positive attention like a lifeline. But just because he's used to it from Wade, it doesn't mean that he expects it from others. Most often, when anyone shows him any form of kindness, he regards it with uncertainty and a bit of mistrust. Nobody gives something without wanting something in return, as far as he's concerned, and those that do are asking to be taken advantage of.

Appearance: Jack looks exactly what you'd expect of a guy nicknamed "Weasel." He's scrawny and scruffy, a bit greasy, and has a computerscreen tan (which is to say, he's white). He wears comically big, round glasses that make his eyes look huge. Very epic looking, really.

Extracurricular Activities: Rifle team

First Person Sample:
could whoever's eating food in the computer lab kindly stop it? those signs aren't up there for my benefit. it's not my problem if you can't respect your own computers, but please try to show a little for the school's. other people use them, you know, and it's not fair to them to have deal with your mess. seriously, it's not that hard. we have a cafeteria. eat there. eat in your rooms for all i care. just don't do it in the computer lab. please.

Third Person Sample:
"...And that is why HTML is for amateurs," Jack finished, just as his cell phone went off. He technically wasn't supposed to have it in class, but Wade pitched a fit the last time he failed to answer a call, and he wasn't about to deal with that again. Thankfully, he'd reached a good stopping point for the day.

Ignoring the phone for the time being, he edged his way towards the door, saying, "So, uh, you can use the rest of the class period to work on your projects. Sections seventeen through twenty two are due next week, and we'll be doing in class presentations. I just needtotakethisrealquick-"

And with that, he bolted out the door, all but slamming it shut behind him as he yanked the phone out and flicked it open. "Wade, please, can this wait? I'm in class!"

"No, I'm not- Wade, I AM the teacher, you know that! What- no! None of the students are hot for teacher either, just- What is it that you want?"

"You have got to be kidding me... okay, look, can you just wait until I finish class? Ugh, fine..."

With a huff, he shifted his phone to his shoulder and walked back into the classroom, ignoring all the curious eyes staring at him. He was sort of used to it, when it came to Wade Wilson's calls. He just had to find what he wanted quick, and then he would pretend this whole thing never happened.
